In our most recent issue of the Living On The Suncoast Web edition we told you about Warm Mineral Springs. Here is the complete story.

Some people head to Florida's gorgeous beaches, and some head for a soak in the healing waters of Warm Mineral Springs in North Port. Many believe this to be the fabled Fountain of Youth Ponce de Leon sought.

Geologists have determined that the springs were created during the Ice Age by glaciers. Today, the spring is an hourglass shaped geological feature that is 230 feet deep. More than nine million gallons of warm water flow into the springs each day and the water is a constant 87 degrees.

The mineral content of the springs includes magnesium, sulfate, potassium, bicarbonate and many more, making it the highest in the U.S. and the third highest in the world. Soaking in or drinking the water is believed to help alkalize bather's blood chemistry. In addition, the Springs can alleviate arthritis, skin conditions, fibromyalgia, stress and muscular pain. That is why more than 65,000 people visit Warm Mineral Springs each year.

Plus, there is a full array of spa services: massage, acupuncture, facials, reflexology, Reiki healings, detoxifying body wraps, ion cleansing and more. There is a café serving salads, burgers, wraps, smoothies, yogurt among other healthful food items.

The cost is $20.00 a day for adults and $8.00 for children. Warm Mineral Springs is open every day from 9am to 5pm. Located in North Port on U.S. 41.
