Square 1 Burgers & Bar opened its first restaurant in Tampa in 2008. We now have a SQ1 off University Parkway. You walk into an edgy atmosphere of red, black with cowhide and chandeliers. It's a self-described "cowboy chic" or "saloon sexy" feel.
The real star is what's between the buns at Square 1. The owners' concept for the food was to serve the best beef burger in the country-Meyer's Angus-and more. There are selections for burgers of turkey, chicken, ostrich, portabello mushroom, and vegan on the menu. The Okie Hot Dog stands alone but is available. There are interesting appetizers and wonderful desserts and treats for you.
I had the "Rise & Shine" which was a 100% Meyer's Angus burger topped with applewood smoked bacon, a fried egg, carmelized onions and gruyere cheese on a Brioche bun. I've never had anything like it. It melted in my mouth. I followed up my banging burger with a carrot pecan cupcake. I could hardly fit that in!
There is a full service bar at Square 1 Burgers & Bar with an extensive selection of unique beer and good wines. In fact, Happy Hour is from 11am-7pm every day and again at 10pm to close. There is also an upscale Private Room for parties or meetings with wireless high-speed internet access and audio/visual equipment.
